About

Hello! I'm Mark B and I like to painting little worlds inspired by nature, folk stories and whimsy. My loves in life include tea, the BBC World Service, Tove Jansson, baking, Oliver Postgate, the colour green, David Attenborough documentaries, cloudless skies and silent movies. I also have a near superhuman capacity for eating cherry bakewells. I live in a small village with my girlfriend, Sarah, who makes jewellery (www.pennymasquerade.com) & a small puppy named Totoro.

It’s been a busy/wonderful last month or so here during which I had the distinct pleasure of having married my partner of 11 years, Sarah. It still seems slightly strange calling her my wife but it’s a very nice sort of strange :) I’ve been taking the opportunity, whilst on honeymoon, to learn a bit more about wildlife and have made up a load of doodles to help me remember facts, so expect a few more of these pictures over the next few weeks.
